 Dear LEGO / *4053 (-20)
review of July/August 2002 Club Magazine...

I know that the magazine is geared for a younger audience, my first impression was that of near amazement. I liked the comic sections, but felt the 2nd one (Alpha Team) was a bit short. I also liked the extras included, though I really didn't care (...) (22 years ago, 11-Aug-02, to lugnet.dear-lego)

  Re: New Road Plates

(...) Hi Frank, Unfortunately I don't have a way to get pictures because I only access the internet at work. Hopefully someone else will be able to provide scans. (...) I never thought about it that way. Perhaps you're right, and maybe TLC WILL (...) (22 years ago, 9-Aug-02, to lugnet.dear-lego)

  Re: New Road Plates

(...) Would someone be willing to get pictures of these? I'm curious. I think 8-widers would appreciate these road plates since their trucks should also be 8-wide which don't fit on the older road plates very well. Even for 6 widers, wider roads (...) (22 years ago, 8-Aug-02, to lugnet.dear-lego)

  New Lego Accessories

Dude, thank-you! Thank you for actualizing all of our collective concepts regardin' the holsters and other minifig accessory armaments!!! =P (URL) actual created arm & leg guards that I (as well as many among us) have only scantly fathomed few times (...)   Re: An alternative? (WAS: Technic's only in a coma (WAS Technic's Dead ))

(...) A myth indeed! I too have ordered from Spectrum and received prompt and courteous service. I got what I wanted within days of ordering it. They were quite helpful (and patient) in locating part numbers, even though I was reading from a Pitsco (...) (22 years ago, 7-Aug-02, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.dacta, lugnet.lego.dacta)

  LEGO Studios Password emails

Dear LEGO: Why am I getting several emails every day reminding me what my LEGO Studios Password is? Can you please cut the number down to maybe one a week, instead of dozens? JohnG, GMLTC (22 years ago, 6-Aug-02, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: An alternative? (WAS: Technic's only in a coma (WAS Technic's Dead ))

(...) Really??? that is one of the most often used metaphors for an exercise in futility. From the The Oxford Dictionary of Modern Quotations: "I'm not going to rearrange the furniture on the deck of the Titanic." --Rogers Morton (URL) Ford's (...)   Re: An alternative? (WAS: Technic's only in a coma (WAS Technic's Dead ))

(...) I agree. I have had no trouble ordering online from these guys. They are just like any other online retailer. Red and blue technic beams, gears, motors etc. A bit pricey, as has been pointed out, but if they are the only source, you gotta do (...)   Re: An alternative? (WAS: Technic's only in a coma (WAS Technic's Dead ))

I'm not sure, but I think this thread has now had more name changes than a dead LEGO product line. ;) (...) Name changes (after 20+ years of being in use) are a silly exercise. For anyone who's ever known it as such, it will always be DUPLO. And why (...) (22 years ago, 6-Aug-02, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.dacta, lugnet.lego.dacta)

An alternative? (WAS: Technic's only in a coma (WAS Technic's Dead ))

(...) yeah, I'm aware of the name change, but for some reason I refuse to adopt it. ..chock it up to nostalgia. and too long of a name. I still say SYSTEM, DUPLO and TOOLO too. (...) lol. that's not funny, but it made me laugh. never heard that (...) (22 years ago, 6-Aug-02, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.dacta, lugnet.lego.dacta)

Re: Technic's only in a coma (WAS Re: Technic's Dead )

(...) Jumping in with constructive comments is never redundant. :) (...) My best guess is that most consumers (perhaps even some "adult LEGO fans") aren't either aware of DACTA or aren't informed as to how it can be ordered by an individual. My one (...)   Re: Technic's only in a coma (WAS Re: Technic's Dead )

(...) Well, technically DACTA is already as dead as the DUPLO, err, dodo: (URL) middle of the page announces the DACTA is now "LEGO Educational Division". This press release raises three interesting questions: 1) Is this rearranging the deck chairs (...) (22 years ago, 5-Aug-02, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.dacta)

Re: Technic's only in a coma (WAS Re: Technic's Dead )

Just my comments on Technic, and Lego in general... Most of us know that Lego is a company, and it does rely on a lot of market research, and it's important to realize that while we are a market segment, we are not the biggest market segment. Some (...) (22 years ago, 5-Aug-02, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Technic's only in a coma (WAS Re: Technic's Dead )

(...) Surely not. Think back to what the store shelves looked like. There is a reason that Technic has died. (...) What kids need is the experience of complex modularity with rules of certain varying granularity. Technic (and LEGO more generally) (...) (22 years ago, 5-Aug-02, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Technic's only in a coma (WAS Re: Technic's Dead )

(...) I'm just jumping in to this thread now, sorry if I'm redundant.. (...) nope, no way. (IMHO) (...) What about DACTA? If price were not an issue, why wouldn't we buy a zillion DACTA TECHNIC sets? could/should the adult community focus on that (...) (22 years ago, 5-Aug-02, to lugnet.dear-lego)

Re: Technic's only in a coma (WAS Re: Technic's Dead )

(...) It would be AWESOME if LEGO were to sponsor such a building challenge themed TV show. One of the most-asked questions at our train shows is 'are these all kits? where can I buy them?' They are floored when we tell them we build it ourselves, (...) (22 years ago, 5-Aug-02, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.technic)

RE: Technic's only in a coma (WAS Re: Technic's Dead )

(...) I'd take it one step further - Brickyard Wars. I hate the Junkyard Wars show becasue the junkyard is so obviously seeded with the parts required to execute one of the three designs for the project. But that doesn't keep me from flipping to the (...) (22 years ago, 5-Aug-02, to lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.technic)

Technic's only in a coma (WAS Re: Technic's Dead )

(...) I don't think Brad Justus and/or LEGO Direct alone can resurrect Technic as we have known it. But I must agree that some of us are losing faith. LEGO (meaning the parent company) needs to take a look at the success of their own Mindstorms (...) (22 years ago, 5-Aug-02, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.dear-lego)
