    Easiest way to get an inventory —David Arnon
   Hi, I've received a MISB <set:8865> and I noticed it didn't have a piece count on LUGNET's set reference.      (...) Well, the way we format our inventories is a tab delimited text file, with the following columns: Quantity, Ldraw #, Bag number (if applicable), Color, Description, Notes.      (...) Yeah, I have been doing them manually, too. A ton of parts lookups in partsref, let me tell you... I like databases since I can work with the keyboard and forget the mouse so I create inventories as a database (.dbf) and then save again as (...) (23 years ago, 30-Jul-01, to lugnet.db.inv)

For sets with a high percentage of normal-type pieces, I use ML-CAD - if there are instructions I'll build it, approximating position to save time, or for freestyle and the like, just a grid of pieces with multiples stacked.
