Unfortunately MOST German AFOLs can not use this database. And that's
really a shame because www.peeron.com is a very useful database.

If you provide access to the data, I would provide my set of scripts
to allow people to set up their local search engines (which would save
you still more bandwith).

Hey, i'm following up myself once again ;-)

Just in case someone thinks I'm just out to take advantage of  the hard
work of Jennifer and Dan, I tip my hat off to them for working up the
energy to start the "experimental engine" and continuing their work
through 1000 sets (and more to come, I hope ;-) ) Keeping at a project
even if it starts getting boring is what makes most volunteer projects
fail at some time, so once again, I salute our benefactors and thank
them for their efforts.

In my case, it all started with my desire to have my set list and the
inventories with me on my Ipaq when I'm standing at some toy shop
somewhere and trying to decide which set to buy.

Then I noticed that my scripts worked perfectly fine at work, but not at
home. A few days later (hey, I had some work-related deadline coming
up), I tried accessing the peeron website from work and home at the same
time (to rule out some kind of trouble at their end), and Dan confirmed
that he had black-holed t-online :-(

(...) Dan told me as much in a private mail exchange a few weeks ago. What I'm doing is getting the set list (only the set list, promise; i'm not spidering the whole site ;-) ) every few days through an anonimyzing proxy and run that through my own (...) (23 years ago, 8-Jan-02, to lugnet.db.inv)
