DON'T BELIEVE ANYTHING! I WAS CENSORED! I DEMAND FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND OTHER
AMMENDMENT RIGHTS I DON'T REALLY HAVE AS A CANADIAN! THE LEGO-MAN IS KEEPING ME
DOWN! IT'S A SEE-OH-EN-SPIRACY! SOME BIG THUG GUYS FROM DENMARK CAME TO MY
HOUSE, TORE UP THE COLOUR CHANGE STRIPS, ROUGHED ME UP, THEN KNOCKED MY STAR
DESTROYER OFF THE SHELF!

No, none of that is true. But it seems that's what some people want to hear, and
hey, it WOULD make a great story...!

Again, this was my call and my call alone. The reason the color strips were in
the original is because the original had a completely different purpose - to
help colleagues inside the company better understand the AFOLs. That included
the hugely important issue of the color change.

Well, not completely true. I agreed to it. We discussed a few things about how
to change the "public" book. Some ideas were Jake's, some were mine. I think we
both ageed to everything that was done and changed, and it was all done for the
intended purpose of the book... to attract more adults to the hobby. You'll
notice other stips were left out, such as the Brick Wars strips. There were
several drafts of the book with strips added and taken out then added and taken
out (there were even a couple new strips that didn't make the final cut)... but
I think we came up with the best final product.

Meanwhile, as I've said before, the strips that were left out of this edition
will be in the BrickFest program! Better start making your travel arrangements
today!

Sined,
Greg

p.s. by the way, there was one strips that I roughed out, but never completed...
I think it had something to do with being burried in a LEGO coffin. Sure, it
shows fan devotion, but we decided to go another way...

(...) Christian, please don't forget the intended purpose of the final version - to help encourage new fans to come into the hobby. It was my call and my call alone to NOT include the color change strips. I felt it was more "inside information" than (...) (20 years ago, 14-Jul-04, to lugnet.color) !
