Oh yeah, I've always noticed that.

Indeed! I have quite a few bricks and plates like this, and I've been
setting them all aside for a special project that I hope to attempt sometime
in the near future.

Yeah, it makes me think again about the info Jake provided after all the
squawking about the Knight Bus. It seems that part of the color variation
is just due to variations in the process as well as that bit someone
mentioned at the time about how shades of purple are much easier to
distinguish between than some other colors.
Not complaining, though. I'm still very happy to have a hobby that, when I
get home from work and sit down to work on a project, allows me to forget
the entire world in the space of about five minutes. It's even better than
meditation!
