Re: Talk me into Bley at BrickFest

I'm not going to BrickFest either, but: (...) I don't think it's so much of a matter of *switching* over so much as accepting bley in your collection and/or models. (...) You can use cool new pieces like 1x1 slopes, improved 2x2x2 slopes, those (...) (18 years ago, 21-Feb-07, to lugnet.events.brickfest, lugnet.color, FTX)

Re: Talk me into Bley at BrickFest

(...) I won't be attending Brickfest so I'll just have to discuss/vent this with you online: I don't think I'll ever forgive LEGO for changing the colors. The absolute worst part is how they changed it suddenly and without warning. Even if they (...) (18 years ago, 21-Feb-07, to lugnet.events.brickfest, lugnet.color, FTX)

Talk me into Bley at BrickFest

Yes, Bley Sucks. I know that, Jeremy Rear knows that. And a good number of the rest of you out there know that too (maybe even a majority). But unfortunately, it looks like bley is hear to stay. I'm stuck in my dark (bley) ages as a result. I can't (...) (18 years ago, 21-Feb-07, to lugnet.events.brickfest, lugnet.color, FTX) !!

  Re: What is Bley???

(...) I agree old brown is better for wood/dirt and if I was to choose only one brown it would be the old one, I just happen to like the new one for other uses... However I take serious offense at your casual remark which reduced castle to an (...) (18 years ago, 13-Feb-07, to lugnet.color, FTX)

  Re: What is Bley???

(...) It's funny but I'm of the opposite school of thought. I think that overall light bley is more suited to more things than old grey (castle walls being the one possible exception) and dark bley is more suited to more things that old dark grey (...)   Re: What is Bley???

(...) While the lack of warning didn't help matters there are those (like myself ; ) who hold the older colours to be more useful for MOCing (especially landscaping) and don't complain on purely collection adjustment issues. This is why I have far (...) (18 years ago, 13-Feb-07, to lugnet.color, FTX)

  Re: What is Bley???

(...) Actually, Purple was replaced by Knight Bus Purple, aka MdLilac. BtPurple is the replacement for DkPink. Um, and it was used for newer Dumbledores, so Purple as well. Pink itself was also replaced by . . . something. (Colors, I don't do.) (...) (18 years ago, 13-Feb-07, to lugnet.color)

  Re: What is Bley???

(...) I think it caught on because it sounds like a real word. There aren't any new colors in the world, nobody gets to name new colors- except us! And we did, and whatever one may think about the color itself, the word is quite nice. Tim Smith (18 years ago, 13-Feb-07, to lugnet.color, FTX)

  Re: What is Bley???

(...) Heh, you can call it that if you'd like :) I think the only reason that "bley" caught on is because it seems like it's the most commonly disliked color of the new colors (IE the one that hurt people the most to see it change). Plus, the word (...) (18 years ago, 12-Feb-07, to lugnet.color, FTX)

  Re: What is Bley???

(...) Okay--thanks, everyone! It never occurred to me that a change in color palette might be construed as a bad thing; I simply looked at the newer stuff and went, "Oh--a new color." I also thought the newer, lighter blue (which I do like) had (...) (18 years ago, 12-Feb-07, to lugnet.color, FTX)

  Re: What is Bley???

(...) (URL) Sometime prior to 2004>, LEGO decided to change the colors of Light Grey, Dark Grey, and Brown. Many theories persist in why they changed the colors, but they did. LEGO later announced that all sets produced after 2003, that is, all 2004 (...) (18 years ago, 12-Feb-07, to lugnet.color, FTX)

  Re: What is Bley???

(...) Bley is the newer grey color that has been used by the LEGO Group. It's more bluish than the previous grey, hence the name "bley." The grey color changed a few years ago without notice, and is disliked not because of the color itself (I like (...) (18 years ago, 12-Feb-07, to lugnet.color, FTX)

  What is Bley???

Hi everyone! Humor me--I am somewhat new here, and I am not attempting to rekindle anything ugly. (I am, by nature, a peaceful person.) What is Bley? And why is it so disliked? (Please, only calm responses. Like I said--I'm somewhat new, mostly (...) (18 years ago, 12-Feb-07, to lugnet.color, FTX) !

Re: LEGO® SpongeBob SquarePants new sets

(...) Well, I give parts in the new colors away to my mother-in-law's 3rd grade class, so any bley is a total loss. (I do throw it in with a bulk bucket so they can actually build with it.) I'm willing to eat a few pieces, but not more than say, 10% (...) (18 years ago, 15-Jan-07, to lugnet.color, FTX)

Re: First MOC after quite a while of frustration...

(...) Hello Nathan, thanks for posting your kind words! But I fear that castle would lead to even more frustration due to blay + grey castle walls. Whenever LEGO decides, that the market requests are too strong to ignore them, I I will gladly buy 20 (...) (18 years ago, 29-Nov-06, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.color)

Re: Missing parts for NXT Kit

(...) Hey Brian, I noticed the same thing too. I opened up one of the NXT electronic parts in MLCAD, and I found that the reason for that high reflectiveness (I think) is that the piece actually has the "Chrome" color. If you change it to the "real" (...) (18 years ago, 3-Sep-06, to lugnet.color)
