I have over 160,000 pieces (probably average for an AFOL) and none of the stuff I've built comes even close to the "grandeur" (...) (20 years ago, 25-May-05, to lugnet.color, FTX)

| (...) Wow, that's a surprise. I guess when I looked at the color table on Peeron I mainly was struck by the fact that up until a few years ago the 2x4 brick was only in a small number of colors. It's really frustrating to have a mere handful of parts in some color (for instance, I think I have exactly two purple 1x2 bricks from some Harry Potter set and no other purple (leaving aside some minifig torsos)), so (...) | (...) I believe it is because many of the "non-standard" colors are often used as accent/detail pieces in sets, or for decorative purposes. As such, you end up with them in the smaller sizes and in oddball parts. It is rare for a set to be made up (...) (20 years ago, 25-May-05, to lugnet.color)
