What I am doing for Castle Blacktron is: write first -- voluminously -- and
then consider the sorts of things I can actually depict with the bricks I
have. [I am actually much farther along with it than my actual output so far
suggests, but I am hampered by the fact that I have been borrowing my Dad's
digital camera and sometimes he wants it back (like lately).  Otherwise I'd
have the first handful of chapters up already.]

But I figure it can work the other way too!  Come up with a cool idea in
bricks and then see what sort of story can be developed from this germ of your
overall project. I have done this too.

In some ways Castle Blacktron came about because I had been building these all
black visored guys when I suddenly realized that there were these 5 space sets
I had never looked at -- essentially the Blacktron I line.  So I decided then
and there that there had to be a way to incorporate these all black fellows
into a CW story.  My previous CW project (i.e. the 13.13 Witch Coven) remains
somewhat overly ambitious still, so I am using Castle Blacktron to warm up to
the techniques I will need to employ for CW storytelling.  Actually Castle
Blacktron has been sketched out enough storywise that I can say that the two
storylines dovetail in a certain interesting way.

Anyway, that's all I have to say for now.  I think you can develop CW ideas
any way you want.  I expect different approaches will yield different kinds of
interesting results.

All you REALLY need is TONS of imagination...

[What's really weird is how bad movies like Krull were despite the fact the
conflating fantasy, sword and sworcery, and sci-fi can actually be really cool
if done rightly.]

(...) This should probably go in lugnet.castle.org.cw as it's a question about Castle World stuff. In answer to your question though, I'm doing both too. I've built some main models, I've put together some people and I came up with a little story (...) (24 years ago, 24-Jul-00, to lugnet.castle)
