Oh? I didn't know I was a major factor in Castle World. I had already given
out my name as a candidate for a new CW admin, and my opinions on the website,
so I didn't think my input was needed any further at this time. However, if it
is...

Here are my opinions, which really haven't changed any:
I see the Castle Builder's Guild as a website to find information about building
in our genre, tips and tricks of building castles, armies, etc. I see the CCC
standard being a major part of the Builder's Guild, and it as a place for
showcasing CCC MOCs as well as MOCs in general. I see it as a gathering place
for those wanting to use their bricks for good (castle) instead of evil (space).
I see Castle World as a website to find information about writing Ballads
illustrated with LEGO bricks, information on how to edit pictures, how to create
scenery such as larger trees and foliage than typical one piece LEGO trees
(which is information that could be shared between the two websites). I see it
as a place for finding out how to create the best Sig-Fig you can have, and
where to share your Ballads with the rest of the world. I see it as a gathering
place for community Ballad projects such as the IOM (hopefully with better
results).
I think Pawel's idea is a great one, but to me its like communism, it would only
work well in theory. I believe the realm of Sparrowhawk (sp?) was a 'guild'
type website, a realm created by more than one person. But I don't recall
seeing much from that website in a very long time, and I remember reading about
the major problem with it being the geographic distance between the creators,
causing many problems with actually uniting the Kingdom's MOCs.
Beyond the geographical limitations with creating such guild realms, there is
also a control issue. Everyone wants to be the king of their own realm, and
sharing power would probably become very difficult between all but the most like
minded individuals who share the same vision for their kingdom.
Then there is the issue of the Lords of .castle whom have their own kingdoms
already. I would not expect anyone to drop their kingdom, like my Ikros for
example, to start a new kingom to add to CW. Nor would I expect anyone to take
on new individuals onto their existing kingdoms (see control issue above). For
me, Ikros has a plan, a set destiny, and I'm not about to allow anyone to change
that destiny, and nor would I expect anyone to change the planned destiny of
thier kingdom.
But let me say this also, I see things in Pawel's idea that have much merit,
that I would happily assimilate into a different plan of action. For example,
having the creations be 'visitable' by other characters from around the Castle
World. I think that's a great idea.
But I don't see Castle World being a collection of guilds. I see it as a
collection of Kingdoms, somewhat like it's always been. Where Ballads can be
shared, information and tutorials can be found, and the communion of ideas can
take place.
I see the Castle Builder's Guild and Castle World as sister sites, one for
building, one for storytelling. I see the alliance between the two websites as
being everything that is so great with our genre. I have a dream... that one
day these two websites pave the way to a new .castle, not through the color of
their backgrounds, but by the content of their code. :)
But that's just my two cents, and what do I know.
