Today I went to pick up a pack of Dacta technic joiners (at a shop in
Akihabara, the electronics district, which specializes in robotics of
all things) and saw the 2001 Lego Japan catalog.  Zero Ninja sets.
None, nada, nai. CHIKUSO!!!!! (18+ Japanese) Even though I stopped
buying at Japan retail prices, this means it is only a matter of time
before Ninja sets are totally gone from the shelves in Tokyo.

Was that the Lego consumer catalog or a dealer catalog ?  Some current product
lines are not shown in the sping catalog. Most of the Ninja sets were (c) 1998
or 1999, which makes sense in the two year product cycle. Its time has come.

I just checked shop.lego.com. It shows seven Ninja sets, of which six are
available (3050, 3051, 3052, 3346, 4805 & 6088). This being for US shipments of
course.

(...) It was the consumer catalog. There is no equivalent of shop.lego.com for Japan. Chris (24 years ago, 4-Mar-01, to lugnet.castle.ninja)
