I think castle wall sections are great for a lot of reasons that are
possibly being overlooked. Certainly you can build castles without them,
but they really add a lot in terms of decor and detail. You can make a
castle with windows, but I'm not certain that you can build little bricks
around the windows like the ones that are printed on the sections. I think
the walls that are printed with stones showing (especially the white with
red brick) are great for using on a portion of your castle that has been
attacked or damaged.
I agree that the coolest looking castles are the ones that don't rely solely
on wall sections, but combining the two types really makes for impressive
stuff. The walls (being thinner) make for more room inside a castle room,
than a standard brick wall.
I've never seen someone who doesn't like the castle walls refuse to use
1x2's, (which are merely a combination of two 1x1's) because it's just a big
piece to replace other smaller pieces. Since you can build your own wall
sections out of existing pieces, use them for areas that need support (they
strengthen), or use them for the outer walls of your castle, saving other
bricks for more complex areas.
I'd look forward to being able to supplement my walls with some black with
grey stones exposed, or maybe some more grey corner pieces. If anyone out
there really does have buckets and buckets of them laying around because
they don't like them, e-mail me, and I'd love to purchase them! Jon

| Okay, personally, I have way too many grey and black castle walls. How about if LEGO decides to make white tudor walls as part of the pack? Or even red and yellow tudor walls? Of course this will stiffle the upward value of sets such as Guarded Inn (...) (24 years ago, 11-May-01, to lugnet.castle)
