Are those pieces in the MTT parts picture that look like shades of blue really
tan rather than light gray? Are there any light gray pieces in there?
Using Jeff's original definition of "best" (best price for the most useful
parts--cheapskate that I am, I like this definition), I still like the 7151,
but only because I got some super-cheap when my Wal-mart went nuts and slashed
the prices on most of their Star Wars sets. As others have noted, this set
has enough light gray plates to qualify as a service pack. 90% light gray,
dark gray, and black pieces. Also a Darth Maul, plenty of slopes, and tiles,
tiles, tiles... And no silly transparent green pieces to chuck into the trade
box. Not bad on clearance, but no thanks at full price.

| (...) [mondo-snippage] Hmmm...compelling. But I think the jury's still "out" for my purposes, because I just got a 7184 MTT, and it's got a lot of very Castle-useable pieces, IMHO. Lots of dark grey and **brown** large plates (4x12s of the latter), (...) (25 years ago, 19-Apr-00, to lugnet.castle)
