I've got loads of crossed axe guys like this. I think its due to the gold
paint used not liking handling. I didnt dunk too many of mine in water, but
it happened all the same. You'll find it just rubs off over time. It'll be
interesting to see if the printing on the rereleased Guarded Inn minifigs
does the same, or if it is more resiliant (they could have combated the
problem however by just making the printing so lousey in the first place)

Congratulations on your rediscovered collection!

Also, all the lions minifigures except for 3 has had the yellow lion
faded to the point that they have just a blue shield on their torsos,
and all the 'crossed axes' mini figs except for one has had the gold
faded to the point that they have just a black shield (with a blue
border) on their torsos. Any suggestions on resortation?

I have 6 Crusaders and 6 Black Falcons like this. Very irritating now. I
always assumed they faded because I used to make the guys "swim" in sinks,
paddling pools etc as a child, and never dried off the water, stupid kid • as
I was. I usually use these torsos for soldiers who have old, poor quality
armour like peasant archers etc. Alternatively, I give the faded torso
Crusaders the blue lion crusader shields, as these don't really match the
lion Crusader torsos, which have gold lions. Or, you could use the faded
tosos for armour for zombie soldiers, razed from the dead, who have rusty
faded armour. If you have extra skeleton heads, you could put those on
instead of the standard minifig heads, for undead dudes.

cheers

Magnus

(...) Re-released Guarded Inn minifigs? Are they re-releasing the whole set or just the minifigs? Thanks Ian (23 years ago, 3-Dec-01, to lugnet.castle)
