Hi,
I'm trying to render an orthographic image that looks nice using POVray.
I've followed Bram L.'s recommendations.
They are:
1) Uncomment the "orthographic" keyword in the camera {} block.
This will get rid of the perspective in the images (equivalent
of infinite focus)
2) Use 3 shadowless light sources, one directly to the side of the
model, one directly in front, and one directly above. Adjust the
brightnesses of the lights by changing the color:
color rgb 0.5 // half-bright white light
color rgb 2.0 // double-bright white light
Adjust the brightness of the lights until you get good edge contrast.
3) Remove reflections from all the colors.
4) If desired, use MegaPOV to add edgelines
Ok, it doesn't look bad. But, the light leaves halos around my objects.
This is due to fade_distance and power. Is there any way any of you guys
here at Lugnet could get POVray to develop a light source specifically for
use with orthographic sets (a light where fade_distance and power don't exist)?
Thank you,
Mike

| (...) Hey, cool, my untested suggestion actually works :) (...) Is the halo on the floor? Solution 1: Get rid of the floor. Solution 2: Add more lights (an area light for example) to light more of the floor, and maybe add a light colored fog to make (...) (23 years ago, 13-Aug-01, to lugnet.cad.ray)
