Thanks everyone for pointing these out. I will update this info on the BrickJournal web site as well so other people don’t run into the same problem. As for the copy through Notepad, I have done that so long that I take it for granted. However, in the future I think I will add a disclaimer about that to any articles with code in them. Again, it’s a good reminder of simple gotchas that can frustrate.

Thank YOU for making that great tutorial Geoff

I’m sure we’re many that has really been needing that for a long time:

Personally I tried to assemble the bits and pieces strewn across lugnet and brickshelf to get the kind of renderings I’ve been admiring on the internet - but I simply burned out with it when I discovered that I had to install a newer version of POV-Ray and Megapov, never getting longer than installing and using the lugnetcolours.

When I reinstalling the whole lot on this laptop, I’d forgotten everything I’d learned, and wasn’t going to waste oceans of time getting nothing but frustrations like last time: That is, until I read your tutorial which made everything piece of cake (ignoring the coding issues). Right now I’m rendering my very first image with soft shadows right like I’ve always dreamed of - thanks to you.

I hope you’ll upload an updated version to a webpage somewhere we can link to, both from lugnet and our personal webpages!

Cheers NB

(...) Thanks Niels, but the kudos go to Koyan Derudder (URL). All I did was take his work and put it in magazine format, along with a model that's easy to build. Koyan did all of the hard part, and we should be thanking him. :-) (18 years ago, 10-Aug-06, to lugnet.cad.ray, FTX)
