radiosity stuff you've done here:

Specifically these renders:

http://brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=289453

Or to the raytracing experts out there...what is it about those particular
radiosity settings that make the results so realistic? What is needed to
achieve this? I'm familiar with Pov-ray and familiar with the radiosity
includes that Orion and others posted a while back, but my attempts somehow
never reached that level of realism. Now I'm looking into creating some
animations using PoV-Ray and need the best rad settings I can get my hands
on. I'm willing to write it, but I really have no clue what I should be
editing. Can someone help me out here?

Thanks so much,

I'm no expert, but I'll take a crack at answering this one.
The radiosity setting allows for diffuse lighting, so instead of simulating one
or more light sources, it simulates ambient light, almost like outdoors.
I have used radiosity for some renders, and it works very nicely.
I can point you to some others who have used it very nicely too, including the
author of the Train Poster, Jeroen de Haan.
Check out these galleries and examples:

As for the settings, I believe Jeroen had some on his page,
http://www.digitalbricks.nl/index.html
but it's down at the moment.
From what I can recall, the big difference is in the settings for focal point,
aperture, blur_samples, and variance. Depending on your object, this will take
lots of playing around to get "just right", and even then, I still play around
to see what difference different settings make.
Hope that sheds a little light for you.
Play well.
