Thanks, I modeled that landscape using nothing but MegaPOV.  The shape of
the ground is a heightfield based on the pattern image type, and the
texturing is accomplished using slope-dependent textures.  The source for
the scene can be found at

-- the file flight_landscape.inc has all the nitty-gritty stuff.
