The shape of the ground is a heightfield based on the pattern image type, and the texturing is accomplished using slope-dependent textures. The source for the scene can be found at (...) (...) Jeroen, I made a .MOV - 2.3 megs. I had a lot of trouble getting it that small - I have not worked with Quicktime files much - the first try came out at 75 megs!.
