| I just downloaded and installed ldraw, ledit, and mlcad per the web site instructions. I also installed the updated parts package. What i can't find are any of the 1xN technic beams. Copying some lines from POV-Ray's representation of Color 383 (Silver), a metallic/chromy version can be acheived. To get a good gold (...) | I agree with Lars Hassing about keeping it LDraw compatible, I was just thinking it would look better if the lines were displayed as black (unless a piece is black, then use dark grey) at all times.
