LXF files - info and XML schema

Hi all, With respect to (URL) this discussion> Tue Jakobsen from the LDD team sent me an email with the following text "I can confirm that the .lxf file is a zip file. When saved from LDD it will contain a small picture of the model (IMAGE100.png) (...) (17 years ago, 11-Jun-07, to lugnet.cad.ldd, FTX) !

  Re: open source ldd?

(...) I spent a couple evenings looking over this when it was first released. For a proprietary format, it's nicely straightforward (the widespread use of XML lately helps, of course). (...) Interestingly, 2.0 contained more information in than 2.1 (...) (17 years ago, 21-May-07, to lugnet.cad.ldd)

  Re: open source ldd?

(...) When their site comes back online (currently experiancing Database errors when I try to acess the page for the toolkit and information), it would be Qube Software's Qube developer kit. Basiclly a complete all in one Open GL graphics engine (...) (17 years ago, 20-May-07, to lugnet.cad.ldd, FTX)

Re: LDD Model of GG-1 Electric Locomotive - Advice Requested

(...) Bruce Chamberlain postulated that the problem is due to one of the 3-axle trucks being *pushed* through the curve rather than pulled. I suspect that a rubber band between the two 3-axle trucks would help - I will try that sometime. --Bill. (17 years ago, 19-May-07, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.cad.ldd, FTX)

  Re: open source ldd?

(...) Thanks for the tip. I'll take a look. I'll have to do some testing with zziplib to see if it will work with the ldraw.org zip files. It doesn't support all zip compression schemes, but I suspect it will work. If I need XML parsing, I'll take a (...) (17 years ago, 19-May-07, to lugnet.cad.ldd)

Re: LDD Model of GG-1 Electric Locomotive - Advice Requested

(...) It's also not hinged to another truck; it only has to rotate around its center point. Being attached to the motor truck, the 3-axle trucks in the GG1 are being pulled a little bit off center as the wheels go into the curve, and I think that's (...)   Re: LDD Model of GG-1 Electric Locomotive - Advice Requested

(...) My (URL) breakdown crane> has 3 axle trucks using standard LEGO wheelsets, and traverses points just fine, although it does have 4 weight bricks holding it down. ROSCO (17 years ago, 18-May-07, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.cad.ldd, FTX)

Re: LDD Model of GG-1 Electric Locomotive - Advice Requested

(...) A brief update ... I got it built a while ago but only today tried putting it on the tracks. Bad news, I'm afraid. To make it work on LEGO curves, you need to remove the 4x6 tile with technic peg from the 3-axle trucks and add some tiles (...) (17 years ago, 18-May-07, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.cad.ldd, FTX)

  Re: open source ldd?

(...) How about zziplib (or just zopen) and tinyxml? (17 years ago, 17-May-07, to lugnet.cad.ldd)

  Re: open source ldd?

(...) I'd say it's unlikely. It would be a fairly big undertaking, and since the files can already be viewed in LDD, I'm not sure how much real benefit there would be. Additionally, do you know of any open source cross-platform libraries for (...) (17 years ago, 17-May-07, to lugnet.cad.ldd)

  Re: open source ldd?

(...) Sure, I understand and not surprised you already knew this. I just thought maybe Harry (or others reading the post) may not be aware of it. But, since you replied... Any chance of LDView reading and rendering from LXFML in the future? I'm (...) (17 years ago, 17-May-07, to lugnet.cad.ldd)

  Re: open source ldd?

(...) Thanks for the info, but I was actually aware of that. I was just trying to point out that the actions of LEGO as a company imply to me that they aren't interested in 3rd party support with LDD. --Travis (17 years ago, 16-May-07, to lugnet.cad.ldd)

  Re: open source ldd?

(...) Not to mention the fact that it has some form of submodelling feature that could probably be hacked. Tim (17 years ago, 16-May-07, to lugnet.cad.ldd)

  Re: open source ldd?

(...) --SNIP-- (...) Take any LDD 2.0 file and change it's extension from .lxf to .zip. Unzip it with your favorite unzipper tool. Open IMAGE100.LXFML in your favorite text editor. It's XML. Go to town. -PD PS: Love to see a tool to control the (...) (17 years ago, 16-May-07, to lugnet.cad.ldd)

  Re: open source ldd?

(...) I don't know either, but based on what happened before and after the original release of LDD 1.0, I'm going to have to say that I'd find it to be unlikely. Prior to LDD 1.0 being released, someone from Lego contacted a number of LDraw tool (...) (17 years ago, 15-May-07, to lugnet.cad.ldd)

  Re: open source ldd?

(...) I've not heard anything suggesting that addons are possible and I have my doubts that LEGO will be inclined to open its source (or if they even legally can since I believe it uses thrid-party libraries). Tim (17 years ago, 15-May-07, to lugnet.cad.ldd)

  open source ldd?

Hello, what programming language is used for ldd? Is it allowed, possible or even welcome that users can develop addons? Thanks for your replies.... (17 years ago, 15-May-07, to lugnet.cad.ldd)

Re: LDD continuously downloading updates (Mac)

(...) Well, I received some helpful advice from the folks at LEGO. I downloaded the freestanding full version of the program, and installed it. Everything is now working as expected. Chris -- (URL) about brittle bone disease (URL) (17 years ago, 10-May-07, to lugnet.cad.ldd)

Re: LDD continuously downloading updates (Mac)

(...) The update worked fine on my PC. I would recommend calling customer service. I will also mention it to Steve & Jan. Are you able to continue using it by choosing not to update? (I can't remember if it gave me the option or not.) ROSCO (URL) (17 years ago, 9-May-07, to lugnet.cad.ldd, FTX)

  LDD continuously downloading updates (Mac)

I've fallen into an infinite loop. When I launch LDD, LDD informs me that there is a new version, so I agree to download it. LDD goes through its installation procedure, but each time I go back to LDD, it informs me that there is a new version (...) (17 years ago, 9-May-07, to lugnet.cad.ldd)
