With a structure like this, each person could comfortable go as deep into
his/her own directory as he/she wanted, and would be assured that other
people's models would not have conflicting filenames.

Hmmm...  Looks like LEdit handles this just fine as well...  No problems
here.

Is there really any reason to maintain the c:\ldraw\models\etc. structure
for use in future tools in the LDraw multiverse?  Why not allow models to
reside in c:\ldraw\otherstuff\jeremys_models\euro-wing_fighter\ or
d:\someother\directory or e:\temp , e.g. any arbitrary directory that is
accessable from the OS?  LDLite already handles other directories very well
-- it tacks the model's directory onto the parts search path.  The upcoming
LDraw II project might do well to follow this same pattern.

Just a few thoughts...

Cheers,
