Re: LDraw DAT certification for clones?

(...) I think its a good idea. (...) In what way? Is it on the FAQ? Perhaps we could include some definitions on some other part of the site. (...) The only thing that's floating here is my brain. ;) (...) Since I haven't been following that thread (...) (25 years ago, 14-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

Re: LDraw DAT certification for clones?

(...) Considered, yes. Done something, no. (...) We try to do that already. (...) How do we do that? (...) I am not sure that the BP7 floating-point format exactly matches the IEEE format, but I will look it up. (...) Yes. Also for easy testing of (...)   Re: What is 'LDraw?'

Can we pick one newsgroup for this discussion? Please? (...) I don't see much of a need for this, other than saying programs can claim they are "LDraw Compatible". (...) Nah. Steve (25 years ago, 14-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  LDraw DAT certification for clones?

Say, has anyone considered LDraw DAT file certification for clones? (I don't mean clone brands of LEGO bricks, I mean clone software of LDraw/LEdit/etc.) Some random thoughts... ldraw.org could maintain the official definition of the LDraw DAT file (...)   Re: Parts Guide

(...) *Groan* don't remind me... That would probably make #1 if I had a list of top 10 Lugnet headaches. At least that one is long over... (...) I've spoken with a couple people on parts tutorials, and it appears some might be in the works, but they (...) (25 years ago, 14-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  Parts Guide

I was reading a while ago and ran across a thread about Jonahthan Wilson and his posting stuff. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone would write a tutor on how to design a part. I would like to learn, but don't know how. I guess you could call me a (...) (25 years ago, 14-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

[ XFUT lugnet.cad where this question belongs ] Quozl: (...) We all started there at some point. (...) There should be a "stud.dat" in "complete.exe". Try to run "complete.exe -y" again.   stud.dat

First of all: I'm a complete newbie to LDraw. The situation: I've downloaded complete.exe and run it, saved the parts list from ldraw.org in C:\LDRAW\, and when I open up a LDRAW model in LDlite, none of the bricks have studs. When I open up MLCAD, (...) (25 years ago, 13-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  Re: What is 'LDraw?'

(...) Correct. I like the phrase 'The LDraw System' identifying the original .dat format and the programs which use the 'System.' [1] (...) Obviously .dat files have become integrated with part files. I like .ldr or .ldm for 'LDraw Model.' .mpl for (...) (25 years ago, 10-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  Re: What is 'LDraw?'

LDraw is the original program that writes (one form of)* .dat files. All the other programs that write this type of .dat file are 'LDraw compatibles'. How's that? * i believe .dat is a fairly common extension used for lots of stuff. John Matthews (25 years ago, 9-Dec-99, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)
