A little while ago I wrote in lugnet.cad:

I have updated my MPD tools, which among other things means
that they now automatically search for both ".ldr" and ".dat"
files, when putting together a MPD files.

The newest version can be downloaded from:

But I have only access to Linux and OSF (aka Tru64 aka DEC-Unix)
systems, so I can not compile the programs for MS Windows or for
MacOS. If somebody has time to compile them, I would appreciate
a copy the resulting executables, for posting them on the web
site.

Have you considered trying the mingw cross compiler to build
Windows executables from a linux box?  I'm kinda curious how
well that works.  I use the native windows version of the mingw
gcc compiler all the time.  But if this works well enough I'd
have one less reason to boot into Windows.

Oops, I forgot you use ADA instead of C.  I don't know if the
cross compiler supports ADA so I built the windows versions
for you and uploaded it to ldraw.org.  Look for

  /home/dheyse/mpd_files_win32.zip

The new executables seem to have longer names than the buildmpd
and splitmpd mentioned on the MPD Files web page.  Also, I must
be doing something wrong, but I couldn't get the build_mpd_file
program to work unless I used the -model flag, and it's listed
as optional in the help message.

(...) Thanks. I suppose I should try to build a cross-compiler, so I can compile for Win32 and MacOS as well as for Linux and Tru64. The MinGW documentation you pointed to seemed to be based on GCC 2.95, which is too bug-ridden to use for compiling (...) (22 years ago, 4-Aug-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)
