For what it's worth, I interpret the straps in the pattern as being part of
a complete skirt of straps. I emailed LFB about it, I figured if anyone
would know the technical term for that piece/type of armor, he would.
He said the straps are often the lower part of a 'jerkin'. Used alone, it
could be labeled a 'skirt' or a 'battle skirt'.
But I don't think "Minifig Hips and Legs with Leather Skirt Pattern" would
work very well...
