I wrote a program to demonstrate how I intend to allow part manipulation • in
the isometric view of my CAD system.  In it, you can move parts in the
horizontal plane by dragging with the left mouse button, and you can move
parts vertically by dragging with the right mouse button.

Nice interface. Like it!

Thanks!

I was wondring if you planned to rlease the source code... (GPL of • course?)
as I was considering a similar interface for a different (non-lego)
program...

Yes.

I am developing a version for Windows with Delphi, and a version for
GNU/Linux with Kylix, using the same code base.

When the time comes I'll probably put the source code on SourceForge.

Right now development is going very slowly because other commitments are
sucking up my time.  It doesn't help that I have dozens of interests and
each week another one seems to take priority (I guess I'm a renaissance
man?).

I wrote the rendering engine (such as it is) from scratch.  Currently it's
based on a simple Z-buffer but I plan to change the implementation to make
it faster.  At some point I'll add IFDEFs throughout the code so the project
can be compiled to use OpenGL or my engine by just changing a conditional
define.

Right now I can't decide if the rendering looks better with (a) shaded
polygons or (b) unshaded polygons with black borders.
