  Gappy Spheroids?

Playing around with part-authoring, I've been trying a few different methods of generating pseudo-curved surfaces. I've noticed that different "facets" of such an approximate curve render with gaps between them in L3P and L3Lab, even when two (...) (24 years ago, 6-Sep-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

(...) I suppose I could have been more specific in my explanation. The gaps aren't occuring between my approximate curve and a primitive; they're occuring at the joints between facets of the approximate curve. An example of the faceting can be seen (...) I forgot to mention. If you are examining a piece, it is usually much easier to determine surface characteristics (or flaws) if it is opaque. --Travis Cobbs (tcobbs@san.REMOVE.rr.com) (24 years ago, 6-Sep-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

(...) You're right of course, but I didn't have another example available to me here at work. You mentioned something I hadn't considered, though; does L3Lab have a "seams" function, other than "show color 24 as black"? I hadn't even considered the (...)   Re: Gappy Spheroids?

The version of L3Lab I have (1.2, which appears to be the current version) has a seams option in the View menu, as well as a toolbar button. My LDView program has a "Seam Width" option, inspired by L3P/L3Lab. Setting this width to 0 in LDView turns (...) (24 years ago, 7-Sep-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

(...) On the off-chance that there's something odd about the DAT code you've written, could you post an example that shows the problem? Steve (24 years ago, 7-Sep-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)
