correctly, you don't want the object mirrored x- and z-way, but duplicated around the y-axis.

Sort of.  Well, not really.  I didn't want to ROTATE around Y (although
that's a useful function).  Well, in my case rotating would work, but only
because the objects I was working with were symmetric.

I was trying to mirror across X, then mirror across the plane defined by
X=Z.
