Ok, fixed this problem. After a better and more careful look at what NTFilemon told me, I decided to create another LDraw directory within my current LDraw directory. Whoops, I hit the Post button a bit prematurely there... (...) files (...) This may be one of those Case sensitive filesystem issues. Do you have a case-insensitive filesystem (like fat32 or Samba) that you can put the DAT files on? I don't think (...) (25 years ago, 11-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)
