Of course, I really shouldn't post this because I haven't used anything other
than LeoCad... I'm not sure how other CAD programs handle it, but here goes...
For manual piece manipulation (I.E. with the mouse):
-- For a left-button-mouse-drag, the mouse's direction moves the selected
object according to the X and Y axes only.
-- For a right-button-mouse-drag, the mouse's direction moves the object along
the Z axis only.
I've seen this done in professional 3D modelling programs (like Calligary
Truespace and 3DStudioMax), and it works quite well... very controllable for a
visual interface. Anyway, that's one of the things that really turned me off to
LeoCad... it was really tough to visually move pieces around in three
dimentions with the mouse... it all depended what view you were in. Anyway,
again, I don't know if it's easier with anything else that currently exists,
but just a thought.

| (...) I've just done that, this will be available in the next version with some other editing helps (I still need to figure out a good way to add new bricks with the mouse). Leonardo (25 years ago, 17-Sep-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)
