I found that without any objects but lines, L3P will ignore files like
camera.dat, so I added a Lego part in each of them.

If Lars plans to include camera.dat support, we might need to think about how we
wish it to work. So this is my discussion starter.

It would be nice if there were also a part used to store points.
It would then be declared at the end of the .pov file as a uniquely named
vector.
