(...) Roy Earls did this as an experiment with MAX2DAT (see (URL) to generate a very smooth surfaced part (=large dat file). But last I heard this converter could not create type 2 and type 5 lines in the dat file. I guess there are also some (...) (25 years ago, 28-Jun-99, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Hey now, that's beginning to look like the yacc grammer for LDRAW in the LDLite source code. If you want to get precise in the language spec, grab the LDLite lex and yacc files and either take them as the defacto standard or modify them to handle (...)
