  Re: ?-?circ.dat

(...) I think the ring primitives will give you a solution. Like the 1-4rin39.dat for a thin "circle". CU Bernd (22 years ago, 13-Aug-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

  ?-?circ.dat

I wish there were color 16 versions of the ?-?edge.dat primitives. These are the ones I would like to see: 1-16circ.dat 1-8circ.dat 3-8circ.dat 1-4circ.dat 2-4circ.dat 3-4circ.dat 4-4circ.dat Because: 1. Filling in curved support lines in patterned (...)   Re: Performance enhanced 4-4disc.dat

Hi Orion and Franklin, (...) Be sure I carefully consider opposition. I would not submit these primitives against general consent. I have made empirical measurements. I have found about 2 percent speed increase when model has many studs (yellow (...) (22 years ago, 14-Jul-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

  Re: Performance enhanced 4-4disc.dat

(...) And for this very reason, I (repeatedly) voted to "Hold" such primitives on the Tracker when they were uploaded, and will do so again (if necessary)...   Re: Performance enhanced 4-4disc.dat

(...) Most programs that use DAT files as the sources file for a rendered image break all the quads into triangles anyway. Technically, this change would slow down the conversion process (though you would need a *lot* of studs) -Orion (22 years ago, 14-Jul-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

  Re: Performance enhanced 4-4disc.dat

(...) The motivation is that 4-4disc is used by "stud" primitive. So I expect a small speed improvement (still to be demonstrated). Damien (22 years ago, 13-Jul-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

  Re: Performance enhanced 4-4disc.dat

(...) I like the 16 triangles better. It makes it easier to split the primitive into sections if I need to. (22 years ago, 13-Jul-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

Re: New Primative 4-4ring1.dat (required for 972pa4.dat)

(...) So what's the stance on old vs. new naming convention for the ring primitives? (I realize there has already been some discussion on this, re: (URL) , most likely other places too) Are we to support the legacy ringX.dat for the full rings that (...)   Re: New Primative 4-4ring1.dat (required for 972pa4.dat)  [DAT]

I missed it. QUAD2DAT still uses the old convention. Steve I already submitted the part to the tracker. Do you want me to resubmit an updated version of the part with the corrected reference to ring1.dat? Or do you have to replace it for me? You (...)   Re: New Primative 4-4ring1.dat (required for 972pa4.dat)

(...) Actually, that's the old naming convention. Which is probably the reason George didn't notice the ring1.dat file. :) Steve (22 years ago, 14-Jun-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

Re: New Primative 4-4ring1.dat (required for 972pa4.dat)

Re: How do I name this torus?

Re: How do I name this torus?

(...) Could we go with t04x0100.dat instead? The 't' would be to keep all the torus files together. Only the 'outer' primitives would be made for these >1:1 toruses, right?   Re: How do I name this torus?  [DAT]

(...) :-/ (...) My spreadsheet gives me an error when I try to give it 1 for the major radius, however, If I give it 1.000001(or something like that) it gives me a workable file.   Re: How do I name this torus?

(...) Yes, I can. If you have taken a look at the rough mockups I posted in CAD/PARTS, you will see a reference to a subfile called "fettorus.dat". This is in fact the primitive in question (although scaled up by a factor of 8), and it is used as (...) (22 years ago, 12-Jun-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)
