New Part: Castle Shield with Black Falcon Pattern  [DAT]

I have taken the opportunity to split out the non-decorated surface into a subpart in line with current practice for decorated parts. For this part I have hardcoded the shield as grey, so that the part colour controls the border - blue or yellow. (...) (24 years ago, 5-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: New Part: Castle Shield with Black Falcon Pattern  [DAT]

Chris, When I display this DAT file in MLCAD, I get a couple of "bowties". I've taken the liberty of finding the errant lines and providing solutions for them. 0 4 16 15 7 -10 18.72 6.03 -10 14.93 15.68 -10 12 14 -10 4 16 18.72 6.03 -10 15 7 -10 (...)   Re: New Part: Castle Shield with Black Falcon Pattern  [DAT]

Chris, I noticed another set of "bowties" along with some work-arounds. 0 4 15 4 21 -10 7 21 -10 4 23.5 -10 3 22 -10 3 15 3 22 -10 4 21 -10 4 23.5 -10 3 15 4 21 -10 4 23.5 -10 7 21 -10 0 4 0 -4 21 -10 -7 21 -10 -4 23.5 -10 -3 22 -10 3 0 -3 22 -10 -4 (...)   Re: New Part: Castle Shield with Black Falcon Pattern

You little beauty, chris. Now if we can only get the torso (the scan in the torsos plan fell through because the guy never got back to me). Could the torso be done by taking the pattern from this piece & shrinking it down a bit, then adding the edge (...) (24 years ago, 6-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: New Part: Castle Shield with Black Falcon Pattern

(...) oops. that should be adding the blue polygons around the edge to fill out the torso. (...) I didnt see that you had hardcoded the shield in grey... (24 years ago, 6-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: New Part: Castle Shield with Black Falcon Pattern

(...) I'll check all of these out - guess I skimped on the QA with "L3P -check". Apologies, Chris (24 years ago, 6-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: New Part: Castle Shield with Black Falcon Pattern

(...) I'm confused. I looked at these and the other bowties Franklin reported. All look OK to me, by visual inspection, through L3P -check and in MLCAD. Could another parts author please check these over - it should be easy enough just by visual (...) (24 years ago, 8-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: New Part: Castle Shield with Black Falcon Pattern

Hi Chris, (...) There seams to be the same bug like in the first you posted. When looking straight at the front side in ml-cad, there are two holes at the pattern near the lower end of the shield. Ciao, Joachim. (24 years ago, 9-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: New Part: Castle Shield with Black Falcon Pattern

(...) Sorry Joachim, but I don't see any holes when I view this in MLCAD (V 1.4), nor with L3P or LDLite. Does anyone else see holes in this patterned part? If you could eMail be an image showing error this I will take another look. Chris (24 years ago, 10-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: New Part: Castle Shield with Black Falcon Pattern

(...) Can anyone else confirm or refute this problem? Not that I disbelieve what Joachim is seeing, just that I cannot reproduce it, nor see the problem in the DAT file. Maybe it is a renderer problem, or a problem in the upload. I want to fix this (...) (24 years ago, 16-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: New Part: Castle Shield with Black Falcon Pattern

(...) Thanks a lot Joachim. This is the info I needed. I'll take another look ... and maybe I need to download a more recent version of MLCAD (I'm still on 1.4). Chris (24 years ago, 17-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: New Part: Castle Shield with Black Falcon Pattern  [DAT]

(...) This is VERY strange, and now does look like a bug in MLCad 1.8 (any chance you could take a look Mike) The offending line is 4 16 4 21 -10 7 21 -10 4 23.5 -10 3 22 -10 which MLCad 1.8 thinks is a bowtie, but rotating the points (1234 to 4123) (...)   Re: New Part: Castle Shield with Black Falcon Pattern

(...) Communicating with Michael privately, it looks like he has found the bug, and hopes to fix it in a future release. Chris (24 years ago, 27-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)
