I wasn’t only talking about abandoned parts, but all the ones people are working on that’ll take a long time to finish. (since the other ones probably gets finished before somebody else starts on them).

But now you’re forgiven (for the sins you’ve confessed), and I would really like to see what you have of that octagonal part: I’ve made most of it with a high degree of primitive and subpart substitution, but has put it away for the moment because the internal details is so difficult: I’m fighting the bottom edges of the internal cylinders (upper) and I’m not looking forward to the two round holes going up from the bottom through the middle section.

Isn’t it possible to modify the PT code a bit to make a “Pre PT list” where you could “add a number” (of the part you’re working on) as well as stuffing in abandoned parts that other can have? The only trouble would be to integrate them so the pre-list gets cleared when the parts is added to the PT to avoid cluttering, but perhaps it could be made a lot simpler by just allowing anybody delete the garbage.

That would be a really nice tool for authors.

(...) This is in my "delvolopment" queue for LDraw.org features. Unless Steve adds this to the PT, I think I can whip up a website module. -Orion (20 years ago, 8-Oct-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, FTX)
