I would definitely like to do this, because the resulting heads look much
better, IMO. (see http://news.lugnet.com/cad/dat/parts/?n=5140)  Through the
magic of perl, I've already modified many of the heads on my computer.

Also, there's an outstanding question of size - the Bionicle ball joint seems to have
the same diameter as the minifig head, but the parts are modeled with slightly
different sizes.  Are these two dimensions actually the same, or are they actually
different?  I have no calipers with which to check...

Hopefully it's the ball joint that's sized wrong, because it would be difficult
to fix all of the heads and headgear if those are the wrong size.

Here's a heretical suggestion: create the updated subfile as a new file, 3626bs02 or
something.  Updated 3626b*.dat parts can be changed to use the new subfile.  This
would relieve most of the coordination issues; updated heads could be released
whenever they were ready.  The two downsides of this approach: some heads may *never*
get updated and if all heads are updated, we'll have one (or two) more dead files
(the obsolete subfiles) floating around in the library.

How about we modify s\3626bs00.dat instead, and delete the curved section
fragment that appears there.  Only two files use that currently.  This is what
I've done, I can post many of these files to the PT immediately, should you
agree.

Andy

(...) How about not. s\3626bs00.dat exists for a specific purpose, and I don't think this is a good reason to hijack the file. Steve (20 years ago, 15-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

(...) I count about 49 heads. That's based on an out-of-date directory on my hard drive, there may be a few more by now. That's a lot of parts to update all in one go. We've done it before, or at least nearly; we redesigned the neck-mark on minifig (...) (20 years ago, 15-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)
