I'm going to take things a little slower before I post a DAT again! Firstly
(the easy problem) was that I posted using OE, next time I'll use the web
site. But the second, and much more fundamental flaw, was that I missed out
a vital step when defining my triangles and quads - I didn't remember to
split them where 2 "faces" of the head met so parts of the pattern go inside
the head. I only realised while I was sat on the bus home last night. This
time I'll take things a little slower and make sure I've covered everything
before I post, and if anyone is interested I'm going to throw together a
quick little VB app that can take a file of X and Y points and generate the
appropriate DAT lines to include the calculated Z co-ordinate, and also to
enable the entry of the dimensions the X and Y points are using so that all
points can be automatically scaled to fit on the head planes (eg. my picture
has the head at 144mm by 166mm, my app will allow you to enter these and
automatically change an X value of 20mm into the appropriate value to go in
the DAT to ensure it sits in the right place on the head). And this would be
easy to extend to provide calcs for the torso, and I may even put the right
leg and hips in as well (so I can complete the Han Solo minifig from the
minifig box in MLCad).

| OK, here's a the main part of the pattern (no quads between the pattern yet, and still the mouth, outer edges and eyes to do, plus the upper part of the pattern needs to be angled back instead of in a vertical plane!), any criticism you want to (...)
