Late last year, I was contacted by a publisher looking to create illustrations for Joe Nagata's Lego Minstorms Idea Book.  A
couple hundred LCAD hours later, the book is now out.

Some of the LCAD highlights include:
Black & white instructions output from MLCAD
Full color model illustrations output from POVRay
Element snapshots using Fredrik's patented "anti-aliasing" technique with LDLite
Lots of bending/curving elements:  electric wires, rubber bands, ribbed tubing, pneumatic tubing, fiber optic strands.

The book can be purchased for $21.95 at www.nostarch.com, and the images are also online at www.nostarch.com/?robotics.

Special thanks are due to:
Fredrick Glockner for his LDraw-Mode program for bending elements
Michael Lackman for MLCAD, in which all the instructions were put together
Mark Klein, who authored so many of the not-yet-official technic parts used in the book

Enjoy,

-John Van

Wow. Congrats John. What is this "Fredrik's patented "anti-aliasing" technique" you are speaking of? The images on the site look very cool. (...) (24 years ago, 4-May-01, to lugnet.cad)
