  ldlite

Is there a ldraw/ldlite renderer (not ray traced) that runs on unix? KL (24 years ago, 18-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: ldlite

(...) You could try ldglite. It's a port of ldlite to opengl. Look here: (URL) get the latest version that's not yet visible on the web page. (I had to do my taxes.) (URL) fun, Don (24 years ago, 18-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad) !

  Re: ldlite

Awesome. I got it to compile and run on FreeBSD 3.2. Are the command line arguments documented anywhere? KL (...) (24 years ago, 18-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: ldlite

(...) Ah yes, documentation would be nice. I started adding to the ldlite command line documentation but seem to have lost that file somehow. I think there is a text version of the original ldlite documentation in the zip file. Look for ldlite.txt. (...) (24 years ago, 18-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad)

(...) And there's also LeoCAD if you want to have a nice GTK interface to help you edit your models. (URL) (24 years ago, 19-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad)

(...) Kevin - email it to me? ;) Dan (24 years ago, 19-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: ldlite

(...) I tried to play a little with l3lab running under wine, and it seems to run, but I didn't have time to play with it more... :) Dan (24 years ago, 19-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: ldlite

(...) In my experience, L3Lab works almost perfectly with Wine under GNU/Linux. LDLITE, on the other hand, works just barely under Wine, and I've never managed to run LDraw at all under neither Wine nor DOSEMU. I would really like to run LEdit under (...) (24 years ago, 19-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad)

(...) Will mlcad run under wine? ldao? (24 years ago, 19-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: ldlite

(...) Follow-up: What I'm trying to do is generate "ldraw" rendered images directly to a file. This is an attempt to speed up the rendering process in the Virtual Explorer. The quality will be less, but hopefully it will be more interactive. I still (...) (24 years ago, 19-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: ldlite

(...) It should be able to do that. You want to do this automatically from the command line, right? Did you compile in the png support? I'm not great at makefiles so makefile.linux has multiple targets. I usually build the l3glitepng target with (...) (24 years ago, 19-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: ldlite

(...) You can use LeoCAD to do that, just type: leocad file.dat -i image.png -w [width] -h [height] Leonardo (24 years ago, 19-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad)

(...) The server is running FreeBSD 3.2. Can you make a binary for that platform? How about Solaris 2.6/7 ? KL (24 years ago, 19-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: ldlite

(...) Since the goal is to maximize performance, wine/dosemu isn't really a desirable solution. KL (...) (24 years ago, 19-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: ldlite

(...) Ooooh Solaris. Could you compile ldglite for Solaris and let me know what opengl extensions it lists? I think this is one of the platforms that supports the HP_OCCLUSION_TEST extension that I've been dying to try out. Sorry about butting in on (...) (24 years ago, 19-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: ldlite

(...) Sure! I was just following up on the previous article, which talked about using L3Lab under Wine. Fredrik (24 years ago, 19-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: ldlite

(...) I only have access to Linux, you'll have to compile it yourself but it should be very easy. If the server is running on a high endian machine (most non-Intel CPUs) then it won't run, I still need to fix a few things but work and Mindstorms (...) (24 years ago, 19-Apr-00, to lugnet.cad)
