| | (...) You might use LeoCAD to convert the parts you can't read to .3DS or .OBJ and them use another program to convert to DXF. If you want to use 3DS Max to create .DAT files, there's a program called MAX2DAT. Leonardo (25 years ago, 27-May-99, to lugnet.cad)

| | | | (...) keep in mind that MAX2DAT goes *from* 3DSMAX *to* LDraw... i wrote it so that i could model the elements in MAX, but convert them for use in LDraw.. it sounds like this person is looking to import .Dat files *into* other CAD proggies... J (25 years ago, 27-May-99, to lugnet.cad)

| | | | (...) either a .3DX ASCII export from MAX v1.x via a plugin called "3DXExp" or a native MAX v2.x .ASE ASCII file... so basically you *have* to be originating in MAX, because i'm not aware of anything that exports out either of those... you *could* (...)
