You might use LeoCAD to convert the parts you can't read to .3DS or .OBJ and
them use another program to convert to DXF. If you want to use 3DS Max to
create .DAT files, there's a program called MAX2DAT.

| (...) keep in mind that MAX2DAT goes *from* 3DSMAX *to* LDraw... i wrote it so that i could model the elements in MAX, but convert them for use in LDraw.. it sounds like this person is looking to import .Dat files *into* other CAD proggies... J (25 years ago, 27-May-99, to lugnet.cad)

| Having just found this server yesterday night, I'm *overwhelmed* with the amount of information here! I picked up the whole PoVRay/Ldraw package a few years ago (I think....), and decided that PoV was not for me. I've since graduated to trueSpace (...) (25 years ago, 26-May-99, to lugnet.cad)
