1) What is the use of the RIGIDHOSE command?
I cant seem to make it work. From its type I should think I had to use the
LS00 constraint part, but nothing gets generated when I try it.

Instead of RIGID HOSE, use FLEX SYSTEM HOSE. They mean the same thing, but
the second one actually works! Yes, you should always use the LS00 constraint
part. In this case, 77.dat will be used to generate the hose which is just a
short cylinder.

2) Why do some gears not work with the CHAIN (and similar) command?
In the case of the Crown Gear it simply means carefully selecting which one to
use, but the 8 tooth gear is missing! Is there a way to enable this part for
LSynth?

The part numbers of some gears are hard coded into the software (if I understand
correctly). There isnt any way for you, the user, to add more. Those currently
supported are the old light gray differential ring gear, the newer dark grey
diff ring gear, the 16 tooth spur and clutch gears, the 24 tooth spur, clutch,
and crown gears, the 40 tooth spur gear, and the outer ring gear of the old
turntable top. LSynth is looking for these part numbers, but sometimes you can
make a substitute. For example, there are 3 different types of 24 tooth crown,
but only one works. If yours doesnt work, try one of the others. Also note
that the new turntable has the same number of teeth as the old, so you can
synthesize a chain using the old one, then delete (or hide) it and put in the
new turntable.
The 8 tooth pinion gear is really too small for the chain links to wrap around.
Even the 16 tooth gear barely makes it. However, the 8 tooth pinion can
sometimes be used as an idler with a small wrap angle like in
this render
I made. In this case, I put a hidden 24 tooth spur gear in which was tangent to
the 8 tooth pinion. This gave me the right chain but you cant see the gear I
used to do it.

3) Ive read rumours about a new version of LSynth. (although some are quite
old). Would that version include the possibility of synthesising the new
treads?

Ive heard the same rumors, but no luck so far.

| I'm trying to learn how to use LSynth and after reading the chapter about this tool in "Lego Software Power Tools" there are still a few things I can't seem to figure out. 1) What is the use of the RIGID_HOSE command? I can't seem to make it work. (...) (16 years ago, 26-Feb-09, to lugnet.cad)
