Slope Brick 1x1 —Jaco van der Molen
Part 50746 is called Slope Brick 33 1 x 1 x 2/3 on Peeron, but this one and and 54200 are called Slope Brick 45 1 x 1 x 2/3 in LDraw and in the unofficial parts. What should it be? 33 of 45 degrees? (16 years ago, 26-Sep-08, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Slope Brick 1x1 —Kevin L. Clague
(...) The part file has the dimensions needed to answer this question. The triangles on the sides tell you the width and height of the end. From there you can calculate the length of the hypotenuse. h = sqrt(w*w+h*h) the sin of the angle is (...) (16 years ago, 27-Sep-08, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Slope Brick 1x1 —Brian Davis
(...) Hmm. Is there some reason you couldn't just jump right to using Tan? Tan(theta) = opposite/adjacent (16 years ago, 27-Sep-08, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Slope Brick 1x1 —Timothy Gould
     (...) Indeed. I make it 31 degrees. Tim (16 years ago, 29-Sep-08, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Slope Brick 1x1 —Philippe Hurbain
(...) ...but if you look at the overall slope of the part, it is closer to 38 degrees. Philo (16 years ago, 29-Sep-08, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Slope Brick 1x1 —Jaco van der Molen
(...) So what name do we give this piece? Slopebrick 33, 45 or rather 38? (16 years ago, 29-Sep-08, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Slope Brick 1x1 —Chris Dee
(...) With the notable exception of the 45 degree slopes, none of the other slope parts have exactly the inclination used in the part description. Note that all have a small vertical section (or step) at the front which causes the angle to deviate (...) (16 years ago, 30-Sep-08, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Slope Brick 1x1 —Jaco van der Molen
(...) I agree. So both LDraw and Peeron should change the name. I see that the name has been changed allready on the partstracker of both part 50746 and 54200. What is the official LEGO name for the part or doesn't LEGO name it's parts anyway? Do (...) (16 years ago, 1-Oct-08, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Slope Brick 1x1 —Philippe Hurbain
      (...) LEGO name on Factory Pick-a-Brick is "Roof Tile 1 X 1 X 2/3" Philo (16 years ago, 1-Oct-08, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Slope Brick 1x1 —Timothy Gould
(...) But if you use the part properly* it's 31 degrees. The 45 slope is named for its face slope rather than its total slope. Tim * And by properly I, of course, mean use a heap of offsetting to make them all line up ;) (16 years ago, 29-Sep-08, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Slope Brick 1x1 —Jaco van der Molen
Right. So who is to change the name then? Peeron or LDraw? (16 years ago, 29-Sep-08, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Slope Brick 1x1 —Jaco van der Molen
I am totally confused now BTW because I got this E-mail from some John L. in my mailbox: ---...--- Dear Jaco, We are sorry to hear of the difficulties you have been experiencing. I suggest 31 would be appropriate. If you have any more questions feel (...) (16 years ago, 29-Sep-08, to lugnet.off-topic.geek)

Re: Slope Brick 1x1 —Jaco van der Molen
(...) Why does the follow-up go to the Robotics group? This is a CAD / LDraw issue, so it should be lugnet.cad.dat.parts. (My mistake in the first place to post it to lugnet.cad ;-) (16 years ago, 29-Sep-08, to lugnet.cad)
