De developer is probably using the DirectX 9 interface, GeForce2 and
Radeon 9600 don't support hardware DirectX 9.
LDView etc uses OpenGL, which is less picky because it's backwards
compatible as long you don't use any fancy effects.

| (...) Sorry, I made an error. The Radeon 9600 does support DirectX9 (I confused it with the 9200). But the board does only support shader model 2.0. So the failure might be the result of the dev using an higher version shader model. (17 years ago, 9-Jan-08, to lugnet.cad)
