  DATHeader Update

I have uploaded a new version (1.1.4) to my homepage (www.michael-heidemann.de). With this version also the lastest changes to the Official Parts Header Specification are maintained. cu mikeheide (19 years ago, 13-Sep-07, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: LDraw File Format Spec 1.0 DRAFT - MATRIX section updated

(...) OK, I updated the first "4x4 3D transformation matrix" to now be "4x4 homogeneous transformation matrix". I didn't feel that leaving 3D in there somewhere was practical. Because of this, I intentionally left the text alone two sentences later, (...) (19 years ago, 11-Sep-07, to lugnet.cad)

Re: LDraw File Format Spec 1.0 DRAFT - MATRIX section updated

(...) Yes, the matrix is still homogeneous. In fact this page contains a nifty explanation of how what we normally think of as a translation matrix is actually a shear matrix where the extra w dimension added to make things homogeneous is the fixed (...) (19 years ago, 11-Sep-07, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Why LDraw.org doesn't use ldconfig.ldr ???

(...) That's unfortunate (but what I thought I remembered). I didn't have a lot of luck updating the ldliterc.dat file used by the PT. Even after regenerating all the unofficial part images, 58119's image is still incorrect. I'll have to mess with (...) (19 years ago, 11-Sep-07, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Why LDraw.org doesn't use ldconfig.ldr ???

(...) If you don't (and I suspect that you don't), I'd be happy to help you compile it there (assuming the binaries don't work), but there's a significant catch. Even when rendering snapshots from the command line, it currently still requires a (...) (19 years ago, 11-Sep-07, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: lugnet.fun

Well, I guess being cornered for hours by so many LDraw gurus during the summer prompted me to exert some kind of revenge :-) But of course any Lugnet thread counting more than 20 messages is always worth investigating... Jean-Marc (19 years ago, 11-Sep-07, to lugnet.fun, lugnet.cad)

Re: LDraw File Format Spec 1.0 DRAFT - MATRIX section updated

(...) Before I do that, can someone tell me if a 3D transformation matrix that includes shear is still homogeneous? If not, then I'm not going to put it in. --Travis (19 years ago, 11-Sep-07, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Why LDraw.org doesn't use ldconfig.ldr ???

(...) I missed that one. We've got ldview installed on the server? Hmm... Steve (19 years ago, 11-Sep-07, to lugnet.cad)

Re: LDraw File Format Spec 1.0 DRAFT - MATRIX section updated

(...) Hey, could you perhaps toss in the word "homogeneous" when describing that matrix? I tend to find more complete explanations when I add that to my internet searches. Have fun, Don (19 years ago, 11-Sep-07, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Why LDraw.org doesn't use ldconfig.ldr ???

(...) Yeah, it might be time to make the switch. Ldglite has never been updated to use ldconfig.ldr (although it probably wouldn't difficult). It currently only supports the older ldlite config file ldliterc.dat with ldlite COLOR metacommands to (...) (19 years ago, 11-Sep-07, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

  Re: Why LDraw.org doesn't use ldconfig.ldr ???

(...) consider also a switch to LDView as rendering engine; it does a fine job for the MOTM: (URL) w. (19 years ago, 11-Sep-07, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

  Re: Why LDraw.org doesn't use ldconfig.ldr ???

(...) That's a good question. The Parts Tracker probably doesn't use ldconfig.ldr, because the image-generator uses a custom script to maintain a combined library of official & unofficial files, which predates ldconfig.ldr. I'm also not sure the (...) (19 years ago, 11-Sep-07, to lugnet.cad)

Re: LDraw File Format Spec 1.0 DRAFT - MATRIX section updated

(...) I think it's fine although I do have one fairly minor nitpick. I'd rather the top and bottom of the large 'brackets' be done using / and \ as follows / a b c x \ | d e f y | | g h i z | \ 0 0 0 1 / to avoid confusion with determinates which (...) (19 years ago, 10-Sep-07, to lugnet.cad)

  Ldraw to Maya

Hello, I have been looking at animating Ldraw models using a number of different 3D modeling systems with varying degrees of success. The program that I am currently working with is Maya. Can anyone give me information on importing Ldraw files into (...) (19 years ago, 10-Sep-07, to lugnet.cad)

Being broke, I've decided to do a little CAD work. So I've designed some passenger cars to go a long with my streamlined steam locomotive I built some months ago.   Re: LDraw File Format Spec 1.0 DRAFT - MATRIX section updated

(...) Based on comments made, I have updated the section of the spec related to part transformations. I'd appreciate it if the people involved in that discussion would take a look at the new text. Please note that there have been a number of other (...) (19 years ago, 10-Sep-07, to lugnet.cad)
