While I'm on it, does anyone know if there will be a new parts update this year?

Yes.

Lots of approved new and updated, much-needed parts on the tracker. Maybe our
LDraw-friends can't decide on new, obscure names for parts that are in the
partslist since adam and eve? :P

The thing that's been holding up the updates is switching to the new licensed
distribution.  Since not all authors have signed into the new Contributor's
Agreement, we've got to clean up the parts library -- probably by removing
files. :/  Or getting more authors to sign the C.A.

We've been holding off on doing any more updates until the library was cleaned.

However, Chris and I have had some brief discussion that it's been too long
since we had an update, we should go ahead and do one, even if it's not
CA-compliant.

So, hopefully, we'll have a new update sometime in the not-too-distant future.

I get the feeling that the activity at the parts tracker is quite low, too.
Many parts stay there forever before getting reviewed. In case of hold votes
with a few errors it takes forever for such parts to get fixed.
Okay, I know that in the summer people enjoy the good weather outside
over spending their time behind a computer reviewing parts. And I admit I
haven't done much reviewing, either. (On the other hand, the amount of parts
I am able to review (having the real parts to compare to) is low, I don't
have that many new parts)

--SNIP-- (...) --SNIP-- Perhaps you can outsource it to some of our Australian, Indian and S.E. Asian members so we can provide a constant source of parts all year long ;-) Tim (19 years ago, 24-Jun-05, to lugnet.cad)
