Hi Philo, I've sent you the STL file for the Anakin Skywalker hair piece and the Senate Commando helmet. Im not really satisfied with how the front of the part looks; if you look at the picture on Peeron theres a lot more definition in the hair (...) (...) I think that making good photos is the best way. You need a camera with good optical zoom, make your photos directly in front of head, and from a distance to minimize field of view. The technique I've been using to make minifig torsos can be extended to heads, but I have one critical problem that I haven't been able to figure out yet: Before tracing an image, I need an image that is facing the camera head-on. WOW!! I am surprised the scanned results are usable /AT ALL/!!!! I'm generally completely skeptical about technology's ability to perform such tasks. I.e. almost 100% of the time a human operator is what is needed to achieve usable results. (...) (14 years ago, 19-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

(...) I think that many of the POV-Ray colors were tuned by the All-In-One Installer from LDraw.org. These are tuned for rendering. The LDconfig.ldr is not tuned for rendering. It is meant for creating building instructions. For this reason, I have (...) (14 years ago, 18-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.ray)
