The 2010-01 LDraw parts update has been now been released. This update includes 479 files in the core library, including 238 new parts, and many more files updated with improvements for Back Face Culling support. A further 13 parts have been (...) (15 years ago, 5-Apr-10, to lugnet.cad) !!

(...) I am not sure, but I think MLCad has introduced MPD files. To your question: Yes, it can split. Use Mulitpart - Export Models and all files in the mpd will be stored in separate files on the disk with their names. Or you can choose File - (...) (15 years ago, 2-Apr-10, to lugnet.cad)
