  Re: Lego dimensions

(...) Well, here's the FAQ on dimensions, which has some pretty precise info: (URL) admittedly, I'd probably just break out the calipers anyway. The wall thickness on wings might be different than other parts, which are the ones you'd see in the (...) (20 years ago, 4-Apr-05, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

  Re: Lego dimensions

(...) I am an engineering student and have access to a rapid prototyping lab. The whole point of this is that there is this one type of brick that I wish Lego made (an 8x4 wing without studs) and if I can get the underside dimensions of a normal 8x4 (...)   Re: Lego dimensions

(...) I'm not trying to be a smartypants, but might you also have access to a 3-D scanner? I mean, aren't they used in the design of a lot of current hi-res action figures? That kind of scanner would seem useful, if only to give you high-precision (...) (20 years ago, 4-Apr-05, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

  Re: Lego dimensions

(...) About .1 mm if possible (...) The LDraw peices do not have the accuracy I need. I have the opportunity to use an ABS 3D printer and want to make myself a couple of custom parts, but in order for it to print nicely I need some very precise (...) (20 years ago, 4-Apr-05, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

Re: Type 5 lines, BFC relevance, and OpenGL

(...) I'm using a display list. The triangles are drawn inside the display list using "classic" OpenGL calls (glBegin(GL_TRIANGLE....glEnd()). The lines are being drawn inside the display list using vertex arrays. Using vertex arrays to draw the (...) (20 years ago, 4-Apr-05, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Some comments on the LPub 2.2.0.9 beta

(...) <snip> (...) I reread the MPD file format specification, and it says: "When an MPD file is used to store a multi-file model, the first file in the MPD is treated as the 'main model' -- all other files in the MPD will only be rendered if they (...) (20 years ago, 4-Apr-05, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Type 5 lines, BFC relevance, and OpenGL

Slower, you say? Are you executing the functions in immediate mode? Or using a display list? Because if you're not using a display list, it's no suprise that it's slower. If you are using a display list, however, then I'm at a loss. I guess it may (...) (20 years ago, 4-Apr-05, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Lego dimensions

(...) How accurate do you need? Many LDraw models include a lot of internal structure and as long as those are accurate enough, you'd be all set. Hope that helps. XFUT lugnet.cad (20 years ago, 4-Apr-05, to lugnet.general, lugnet.cad, FTX)

Re: Type 5 lines, BFC relevance, and OpenGL

So, I got the code updated so the conditional drawing happens in a display list, and then built LDView with full optimizations turned on in the compiler, and the new method actually runs slightly slower than the old method. (This is on an ATI Radeon (...) (20 years ago, 3-Apr-05, to lugnet.cad.dev, FTX)

  Macaroni Brick Patterns

I was messing around with some (URL) macaroni bricks> the other night and made a cool pattern, but I didn't have enough bricks to fully flesh it out, so I fired up ldraw. Once I had the first pattern, I couldn't help but try my hand at a few more: (...) (20 years ago, 3-Apr-05, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.build.mosaic, lugnet.cad, lugnet.build, FTX) !
