  New part: 4876.dat - Fabuland Slide - 2 of 2

Sorry, the later one should titled as '2 of 2' of course. Ampi (20 years ago, 29-Nov-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  New part: 4876.dat - Fabuland Slide - 1 of 2  [DAT]

I've finished the development of this part. It was a bit difficult, especially to measure the curved surfaces and then the Excel acrobatics to generate their Ldraw counterpart. I think the result did worth the effort. I submit the part to part (...) (20 years ago, 29-Nov-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Like the new layout of the PT activity page

(...) You're welcome. :) Besides looking a little different, the page should also run a little bit faster. Especially if you follow any of the "Events" links from the ptdetails.cgi page. Steve (20 years ago, 29-Nov-04, to lugnet.cad)

Like the new layout of the PT activity page

thx to the person ho has updated the activity page: (URL) it a lot. especially the "title" column is highly appriciated. w. (20 years ago, 29-Nov-04, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Part building advice - too many triangles/quads?

(...) No, the back slash is correct. -Orion (20 years ago, 29-Nov-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, FTX)

  *** LDView Version 3.0 Beta 1 Released ***

LDView version 3.0 Beta 1 is now available for public testing, in both source and binary forms for Windows and Linux. You can find both at the new LDView web page on SourceForge.net: (URL) This is an official public beta test for LDView 3.0. LDView (...)   Re: Part building advice - too many triangles/quads?

(...) Shouldn't it be a forward slash (s/6898s01.dat)? Parts use forward slash in the actual part code (which is good, because it makes viewers in other operating systems slightly easier to make). --Travis (20 years ago, 29-Nov-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, FTX)

Re: Part building advice - too many triangles/quads?

(...) Yes, of course - now where did I leave that backslash? Chris (20 years ago, 28-Nov-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, FTX)

Re: Part building advice - too many triangles/quads?

(...) You can do it in LDAO as well, although there's no direct "round my decimals to 3 places" command. First, open your file in the editor. Second, go to Options | Decimals, and enter 3. Then put a line "0 SCALE 1" at the beginning of the block of (...) (20 years ago, 27-Nov-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: LEGOfactory.com launches... and it's big!

(...) You're right, the files aren't UTF-8. If anyone is interested, you can convert ISO-8859-1 text to UTF-8 like this: characters from 0-127 (0x00-0x7F) remain the same characters from 128-191 (0x80-0xBF) are prefixed by 194 (0xC2) but otherwise (...) (20 years ago, 27-Nov-04, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Part building advice - too many triangles/quads?

(...) Great work. The subpart naming standard(s)n are documented at (URL) So, I'd rather your subpart were named s6898s01.dat. Submitting a new part to the Parts Tracker is easy. You need to register as an LDraw.org user (at (URL)) and then request (...) (20 years ago, 26-Nov-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, FTX)

Re: Part building advice - too many triangles/quads?

(...) Sorry Orion, I was not aware of that neat feature. I should get out of my LDAO-centric world more often. So, what I meant to say was : "There's this really cool tool called LDraw Design Pad that can do this for you". Chris (20 years ago, 26-Nov-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Part building advice - too many triangles/quads?

Thanks everyone for the advice. After posting last night I went ahead and changed the hat puff to a 1/8 segment and called it s/6898s18.dat. Any conditional lines falling along the x, z, x+z (diagonal), or x-z axes were moved into the main file to (...) (20 years ago, 26-Nov-04, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, FTX)

Re: Part building advice - too many triangles/quads?

  Fixed LGEO parts

Lutz Uhlmann (Chaot!X) is the author of almost a thousand LGEO parts, which are very nice looking (rounded edges) POV versions of LDraw parts. The LGEO parts, however, haven't been updated since September 23, 1999. During the last couple of years I (...) (20 years ago, 26-Nov-04, to lugnet.cad.ray, lugnet.cad)

Re: Part building advice - too many triangles/quads?

(...) I think the filesize:quality ratio is good. I notice that almost everything is coded to 4 decimal places. Except when (and maybe not even then) a surface joins to a circular primitive, 3 DPs should be sufficient in parts (0.0001 LDu < 0.00002 (...)
