Use all your Windows PC’s as one, to render POV-Ray at once and real easy (SMPOV)

Hello, Over the past few months I have been working on making a mini-supercomputer with several servers running Linux and PVM (parallel virtual machine) with MOSIX. All for Rendering in POV-Ray. After weeks of learning Linux and trying to figure out (...) (20 years ago, 11-Oct-04, to lugnet.cad)

Do you remember what LDraw.org looked like back in 1999?

Doing a mindless internet surf today and bumped into a website that is archiving the internet! So I decided to give it a try and typed in www.ldraw.org and look what I got. (URL) Enjoy... BTW the website is called: WayBack Machine (URL) -AHui A&M (...) (20 years ago, 11-Oct-04, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

  Re: New colours in Ldraw?

(...) That doesn't mean dithered colours cannot be used in a part, just that any area that requires such should be devolved into a subpart. There are plenty of examples of this technique in the official library - e.g. 973p39.dat Chris (20 years ago, 10-Oct-04, to lugnet.cad)

  RE: New colours in Ldraw?

(...) Ah, but according to the Colour Chart ((URL) "LDraw can render mixes of the basic 16 colors. This is commonly called 'dithering'. You can use dithered colors for any part reference, but part authors cannot use them to color polygons or lines. (...) (20 years ago, 10-Oct-04, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: New colours in Ldraw?

(...) I understand your point, but I think that it's a bad idea to release an official part that's guaranteed to look wrong in all current renderers. All that's going to do is confuse the novice users, and I think that's a really bad idea. I'm not (...) (20 years ago, 9-Oct-04, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Idea for a new feature in a Lego CAD program.

(...) BlockCAD (see sig.) has snapping. In fact it's impossible to put parts inside each other there. OTOH, BlockCAD has many other limitations (studs up only, 90 degrees turning only, limited part library) so it's usability depends on what you are (...) (20 years ago, 9-Oct-04, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Strange part/file conversion problem

I've been working on model 8872, the forklift transport and I've again found some parts that do not convert the right way from Ldraw to LGEO: part: 6536.dat / Technic Axle Joiner Perpendicular is rotated 90 degrees part: 2905.dat / Technic Triangle (...) (20 years ago, 9-Oct-04, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Idea for a new feature in a Lego CAD program.

(...) Wonderful. Glad to see someone already thought about this and is implementing it into a working program. Thanks for the information, Travis. :) (20 years ago, 9-Oct-04, to lugnet.cad.dev, FTX)

  Re: New colours in Ldraw?

(...) Good Idea. That's also my opinion. There should be a break with the backward compatibility. That would solve many Problems with the old DOS-Program. And it would be easier to generate new standards. CU Bernd (20 years ago, 9-Oct-04, to lugnet.cad)

Re: I want to become a reviewer

(...) While I don't stick religiously to any formula, I do usually try to group "logical" sections together, sometimes even with comments! But I think generally I've found it easier to do the polygons first. ROSCO (20 years ago, 9-Oct-04, to lugnet.cad, FTX)
